Case Studies

Relocation Case Studies

We publish case studies so that support coordinators, plan managers, families and businesses can see how a relocation is actually run — the decisions, the sequencing and the things that went sideways — rather than reading a list of claims.

Every case study below is a relocation we managed. None of them are composites, and none of them are written from a template of imagined problems.

How we write them

Each case study follows the same five-part structure, because those are the five things people ask us about when they are deciding whether to hand a relocation over.

1. The challengeWhat made this relocation difficult: the timeframe, the access, the property condition, the funding position, the number of people who had to agree, or the person at the centre of it.
2. Services coordinatedEvery element we scoped, quoted, booked and supervised — transport, packing, cleaning, storage, rubbish removal, equipment handling, trades — and the order they had to happen in.
3. Stakeholders involvedWho had to be kept informed and who signed off on what. Typically some combination of participant, family, support coordinator, plan manager, SIL or SDA provider, allied health, property manager, facility or employer.
4. OutcomeWhat was delivered, against what was quoted, and whether the dates held. Where a cost or a date moved, we say so and explain why.
5. Lessons learnedWhat we would do differently, and what we now build into similar jobs as a result. This is the part that makes a case study worth reading.

Privacy and consent

Relocations are personal, and in NDIS work they involve health and disability information. Our rules are simple:

  • Nothing is published without written consent from the person or organisation involved.
  • Participants and families are de-identified by default — no names, no street addresses, and no photographs of people.
  • Diagnoses and support needs are only described where they are relevant to the logistics, and only in general terms.
  • Where a case study is about a commercial or government client, we publish the organisation only if they have agreed to be named.
Client and provider note: if you have worked with us and are willing to have a relocation written up, we would like to hear from you. We will send you the draft before anything is published and you can strike out anything you are not comfortable with.

What we can show you in the meantime

If you are assessing us before handing over a relocation, the most useful things to read are the pages that set out how we work rather than what we claim:

Or ask us directly. We are happy to talk through a comparable relocation over the phone, including what it cost and what went wrong, without publishing anyone’s details.

Send us the details of your move

Fill this in and a relocation coordinator will come back to you. If we need photos or a site walkthrough to quote accurately, we will tell you exactly what we need.

  • This tells us which coordinator should call you back.
  • Helpful details: your rough dates, property type and number of bedrooms, stairs or lift access, anything needing special handling, and who else needs to be kept informed (family, support coordinator, plan manager, agent).

What we will ask you

The more of this you can tell us up front, the closer the quotation will be to the final invoice.

  • Where you are moving from and to, and the dates you are working to
  • Property type, number of bedrooms, stairs, lifts and driveway or street access
  • Anything that needs special handling — pianos, safes, hoists, beds, wheelchairs, fragile or valuable items
  • Which parts you want managed: packing, cleaning, storage, rubbish removal, handyman work
  • Who else needs to be kept informed — family, support coordinator, plan manager, agent or facility
  • Photos of each room, the driveway and the street, if you have them
If this is an NDIS relocationWhether NDIS funding can contribute towards a move depends on the participant’s plan and their individual circumstances. We prepare an itemised quotation so it can be discussed properly with a support coordinator or plan manager.
